On Saturday, June 2nd, the Ottawa Writer's Circle is hosting a workshop called Social Media 101 and Twitter Intensive at the Ottawa Public Library, Rideau Street Branch. You can find the link to buy tickets and the description below.
Social media is the perfect place for writers to build a brand and a meaningful community…but it can be challenging to know where to start. If you’re overwhelmed or intimidated by the task of creating a social media presence, this workshop will help you wade in!
We’ll walk you through important considerations for developing social media strategy and content and then take a deep dive into Twitter, one of the most powerful platforms for writers. Bring your laptop for a hands-on introduction to creating a profile, participating in threads, finding communities, and using Twitter on the road to publication.
You will come away with a clear understanding of how to use Twitter and social media to hone your writing and boost your readership.
*Note: To benefit fully from the Twitter tutorial, you will need your laptop (or phone, in a pinch) as well as a library card to access the WiFi.
